About me

I’m an interdisciplinary social scientist and urban planner interested in poverty reduction and the social impacts of housing on the lives of the poor.  After getting my PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I taught at the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs for 13 years.  I came to the Ohio State University in 2012 as Professor and Section Head for City and Regional Planning in the Knowlton School of Architecture.  I’m still a professor, and in 2018 I became Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in the College of Engineering.
