Year in Review

End of Spring 2018: This year has been an eventful year of studying, fighting, recovering, dancing, and volunteering. I’ve jumped into my new majors and I enjoyed my anatomy class immensely. I’ve decided to pursue a career in clinical research with a focus on neuropharmaceuticals (this may change again). I’m starting my research with Dr. Gu, and it seems really promising so far. I’m very encouraged by how he treats the other undergraduate in the lab and lets her work on projects of her own.

This past year I got a lot more involved with DanceSport at OSU and did a lot of competing with the club and the team. I hope to be even more involved next year, and I’ve made a lot of really close friends in the club.

I struggled some more this year with my health and actually had to take Spring semester off/part time to keep up with my doctor’s appointments. However, I’m hoping to come back next semester full force and recover as much as I can. Even though I’ll graduate a year later than my fellow Fellows, I’m excited for what my next years at OSU will bring.

End of Spring 2017: This year my life changed a great deal. I have struggled through this year and made it through to the other side with all my limbs intact. I started this year a chemistry and German double major and am ending this year planning to go into Pharmaceutical Sciences and German (of course!) with a minor in Neuroscience. I learned that I actually don’t care for chemistry as a career, that pharmacy is awesome, and that I’m super interested in anatomy.

This year I have struggled with a lot of health issues, but I have definitely enjoyed getting to know the other Eminence Fellows as well as people in my dance club. I learned to love dance and the people in it. This summer I plan to continue dancing, take some online classes, and get my health back in order. Next school year I’m going to start my new major and minor and rock my classes.

I think throughout my struggle this year I have learned a lot about myself as a person and as an academic. I learned what I want to do with my life and figured out what to do to make my life mean something. I am proud to say that I finished my first year as an Eminence Fellow despite any trouble I may have had.
