The press release done by Apple on September 9, 2014, explains the new design. The iPhone 6 has a new thin design with retina HD display and a powerful A8 chip enhances with advanced cameras and introducing Apple Pay. This new iPhone release is the first one to have two different sizes; 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch displays allowing 38 percent more viewing area. It’s got a thin, seamless design using anodized aluminum to mold into the shaped glass. The phone is updated with the most advanced operating system, iOS 8 and a M8 motion coprocessor. This allows for a faster performance, power efficiency, higher contrast with dual-domain pixels and a faster autofocus [1].

The iPhone 6’s new sleek design has 300 more parts than the iPhone 5s, making its total number of parts over 1,100. These parts allow for the improved resolution on images and a better filter circuit. Two-thirds of the extra parts are extremely small, about 0.4mm by 0.2mm [19].

For design and development, I critically investigated Apple, Inc.

Apple is located in California and it accessible online at www.apple.com. Apple was created in 1977 by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. They started the company with $1,300 and high school computer enthusiasts. After much growth, Apple went pubic in December of 1980. The first iPod was released in 2001 and the first iPhone in 2007. Apple employs 13,426 employees and made $13.93 billion in 2005 [10]. When looking specifically into the employees, they report that they are extremely satisfied with the job despite being highly stressful. The job is flexible with 2.3 weeks vacation and a casual dress atmosphere. Software engineers get paid anywhere between $95,716 and $159, 657, while a technical advisor gets paid $23,883- $52,711. The company is 23% female and 77% male. The experience level is mostly 1-9 years with 34% in the 1-4 year range. Popular skills that the employers hold are customer service, project management, C++, C, computer hardware technician, data analysis and engineering design. Employee benefits include 401(k), casual dress, stock purchase plan, paid holidays, vacations and sick leave, a cell phone, and life insurance/disability [4].

In searching for information, I found a fun fact about Apple. In June of 2011, the U.S. government had $73.8 billion in operating cash while Apple had $76.2 billion [6].
