Service Experience Reflection

One service experience that stood out to me this year would have to be BuckeyeThon.  This 24 hour dance marathon raises money for Nationwide Children’s, namely their hematology and oncology clinics and research.  This gave me the opportunity to raise money for a hospital that I have a personal connection to, with physicians there responsible for the treatment of my cleft lip and palate.  During the dance marathon, I had the opportunity to meet some of the kids Nationwide selected to come and tell us a little about their battles with cancer.  This was all very eye-opening and I was able to see the resiliency of little kids who had been diagnosed with cancer, but still have a smile on their face and just want to be like any other kid their age.  My participation in the dance marathon also made me realize just how lucky I am to have my health.
