Bio
My name is Gage Kime and ever since I can remember I have been interested in
design, especially when it comes to the automotive industry. I have always been
told that I was creative and pretty good at making art, which I always just saw
as a hobby until I realized I could use my creativity to someday design and make
things as my career.
Noteworthy Information
I came into college knowing I wanted to design something, and with my parents’
background I figured architecture would be a good fit, but then I realized that I
appreciated cars more and started working towards my degree in mechanical
engineering. It was not until after I had countless hours of hard work and
studying that I realized that what I really appreciate more is the design of cars
and what the process of design for creating looks like.
Curiosity/ Excitement to Lean about the Design Process
I’m very excited to learn new things about the design process such as how designers
decide to use nature as inspiration for designs. The impact of a good design
and why it is so meaningful is that it has to make life as enjoyable as possible
and to make the product desired amongst consumers, it also has to be functional
and provide a something to the consumer whether its physical or emotional. I am
extremely curious in the process of how designers come up with the solutions and I
can’t wait to learn.
Reflection on Design
I believe that design is what makes life interesting, without it there would be nothing
worth looking at, especially if you are thinking about the design in nature and how life
itself is all a design. There would be nothing in existence if it weren’t for some level of
design, even on a biological scale. Without design or the design process we would have
never evolved and probably as a species would not have survived. Design is one of the
most important aspects of our lives that not only keeps us alive but helps us to enjoy being alive.
