This quote felt most applicable to this project as the gift involves the reception of a person I did not know, and humor is a common ground for people to build upon. I appreciate the visual example of a refrigerator and plan to incorporate it in reference to the quote. Furthermore, the idea of design being invisible was a common them throughout many foundations courses. In the Intro to Design lecture class, great design went unnoticed by the users as it flawlessly implied and completed its job. Additionally, in the Hidden-in-Plain-Sight project, our designs had to harmonize with space while accomplishing a function. This quote reiterates that concept. Good design is invisible, but bad design is detrimental.
