About Me

My name is Joy Kim, and my intended major is chemical engineering. I am from Toledo, which is in the northwest area of Ohio, near the border between Ohio and Michigan. In my family, I have two siblings. One is also attending college like I am, and one is still part of high school. I love to play sports, and I plan to play intermural volleyball during the spring this school year. I also enjoy watching sports, which is why I plan to attend various sports games throughout the year including women’s and men’s volleyball and football. One interesting fact about me is that I moved to the US from South Korea when I was in 4th grade. As a result, I can speak two languages fluently.

Because of my interest in the practice of sustability throughout the world, I made the choice to join the Green Engineering Scholars program at OSU. Throughout the school year, I hope to learn more about the topic. One of the more specific topics that I would love to learn more about is plastics, which is part of the reason why I chose chemical engineering as my intended major. In the future, I hope that my knowledge that I have learned through college about being “green” allows me to gear my career towards the direction where sustainability is one of the top priorities of the job and the employer I would work for.
