Module #4

Greetings fellow students,

In this week’s module, we’ve reviewed online learning strategies and skills. As we search for areas that we can improve each week, I’ve found that memorization in learning was the topic I would like to focus on for this week. With so many different apps and websites that promise to take your memorization to the next level, it’s difficult to differentiate between each.

So where do you start? Well, first and foremost it’s crucial to identify what is important to understand and memorize when reading or reviewing slides. Once you master this skill everything else after becomes easier as the use of repetition and recency can be used to ingrain the information in your head. One great strategy to use to remember certain information is mnemonic devices and through the use of mnemonic devices, it makes the information and data easier to recall.

However, a mnemonic device is a broad term used for the techniques that are used to recall such information and data. the most common and useful mnemonic device techniques are acronyms, acrostics, rhymes, and jingles. Although I’ve always known about mnemonic devices I’ve never really put them into use until now. As a student who remembers rhymes and jingles like the back of his hand, I decided to make use of these mnemonic device techniques in the materials and modules to come.

Cheers,

Kato Kim
