Connection to Class Themes
Domitila’s life is a good example of life for workers in the Andes region. The workers were treated the same way that workers for the corregidores were treated. There were poor housing and living conditions. Both had poor wages and could barely pay for daily necessities such as food. The workers in both times had long hour shifts with no breaks and no food. Working in the mines caused many deaths and illnesses for the miners. It was almost slavery but because they had wages and shifts it could not be called that. Overall, miners had terrible working conditions along with terrible living conditions for them and their families.
