Let’s Taco About (Growth) + Failure

January 11, 2020 5:30 – 8pm

Professional Development Event

For this event, we met in the Sky Lounge of Smith-Steeb Hall and ate Chipotle burritos. While we ate, we played a Kahoot, which asked us different questions. These questions then opened us up to full group discussions. It was lead by to of the LC members, but everyone was allowed to add there own experiences and answer or ask other questions.

It was really great to hear the experiences of older IA members. It made me worry a lot less about what I will go through. For example, just hearing about all the different things people had applied for and didn’t get, but then they were able to do something else that they really enjoyed. It was also nice learning about what other people in my own grade are feeling and that I am not alone in feeling nervous about the future.

It made me realize that it is okay to try things and not get them. Because of this event I decided to apply to be a University Ambassador. It really made me feel a lot more confident. Therefore, I decided to go through the application process and see if I get in and if I don’t I know that I will have other opportunities in the future. I will remember this experience as I apply for more positions throughout my life!
