Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. About Me

[Your “About Me” is a brief biographical statement that might include your intended major, your academic interests, your goals, as well as the things that make you unique.  Definitely include a picture! Also, remember that you can always update this post at any point. Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

[ “G.O.A.L.S.” is a place where students write about how their planned, current, and future activities may fit into the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S.: Global Awareness, Original Inquiry, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development, and Service Engagement.

  • Global Awareness: I would love to study abroad during my time as OSU. I am not sure whether I would like to do a program that is related to my major (biology) or my professional goals (medicine) or if I would like to do something related to service/culture. However, I know that preferably, I would like to go on a trip during an academic break so that I could still attend my classes.
  • Original Inquiry: I believe that involving myself with research is definitely something that I want to accomplish during my time at OSU. I believe I will start looking for opportunities my second semester or into my second year.
  • Academic Enrichment: I am a biology major on a pre-med track, so I think I will be challenged academically through the rigorous science courses as well as preparing for the MCAT. Right now, most of my classes are honors courses, as well as the courses that I am scheduled to take next semester.
  • Leadership Development: Developing my leadership skills is important to me, so this year I am a member of Buckeye Leader Fellows Foundations. I also hope to apply to become a member of the Buckeye Leadership Fellows cohort next year. I would also like to participate in pre-med organizations on campus and hopefully run for a position.
  • Service Engagement: Currently, I am a part of two programs that allow me to serve. As a Choose Ohio First-Engineering and Science Innovator Scholar, I will devote time every week either tutoring students at the Metro schools or conducting science experiments together with students of Columbus City Elementary Schools. As a member of PASS (Program for Advancing Service and Scholarship) this year, I devote time to volunteer for various events that our organization participates in. I also hope to become a volunteer at the Wexner Medical Center and volunteer there once a week.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
