1. Find your passion, whether it is a certain programming language, or type of business application, it is important to enjoy what you are doing. Otherwise, you will struggle with motivation and fall behind.
2. Use your professors as resources. Almost every professor in the computer science department is working with the most advanced technology and performing groundbreaking research. They can be great references later on, while helping you decide your career path.
3. Develop a network among your peers. The relationships you make now can go a long way in your future career. LinkedIn can be a great way to connect with students and professionals in your field.

1. Acanaconda Navigator: Allows for cloud based notebooks for languages like R or Python.
2. Eclipse: Great notebook for languages like Java or R.
3.  fivethirtyeight.com has great examples of data science practices in industries such as sports, politics and science.
4. Tableau: Great data visualization tool and free for students! One of the most common programs used in industry, a great way to learn skills for free and make yourself more marketable.
5. Kaggle.com: Has data science competitions and projects. Scoring well in these competitions can set you apart and make great networking connections.

1. Time management: This has always been a struggle for me in online settings. I have learned many new strategies to combat this problem and get my work done in a timely manner. I now know it is best for me to plan out my week early on.
2. Technological resources: This class has exposed me to new technologies such as buckeyebox and google hangout. These have helped me greatly when collaborating for group projects.
3. Note-taking strategies: In the past, I have never really taken good notes for online classes. I have been exposed to an abundance of different strategies and now have a good idea on how to create my own.
