G.O.A.L.S.
There are many aspects of the honors program that I will help me achieve beyond the average student here at Ohio State. Here I will map out these aspects and how I want to accomplish them.
Global Awareness: I believe that having an awareness of diversity is very important as I further my education. One way in which i want to complete this section is by studying abroad. I believe this will be highly beneficial for me in many ways. For my major, I think it is important to see how the fashion industry works in other countries. I will also get to meet so many different people and hear different stories along the way. I think traveling to another country would be very eye opening and inspiring for me. I’m definitely looking forward to it.
Original Inquiry: For the honors program I understand that I have to participate in research and independent studies. This is a great experience as well as a good resume builder. For my research, I plan on getting in contact with one of the fashion professors that has a lot of research experience. When most people think of research they think of science experiments but I want to show that even though people think of fashion as a less smart major I can show the scholarly sides of it. I also plan on getting involved with different internship experiences for independent studies.
Academic Enrichment: There will be tons of academic experience as an honors student. Each semester I will be challenged with various honors courses. Though they might be hard, they will keep me on track and motivated as well as push me intellectually.
Leadership Development: It is important to develop leadership skills throughout college for the future. I will definitely need these skills if I want to be an influential person in the fashion industry. I plan on gaining these skills by having roles in my extracurricular activities. I hope to be on the leadership committee of my sorority in the future and of fashion related clubs.

Here is the link as well as an image of my concept map that I have created. This map lays out all of my goals and expectations for my college experience. In each goal, there are suggestions of how to accomplish it. For example, some goals may include due dates, links to sources, or resources on campus that could help me. I believe having my goals laid out like this will help them become more realistic and reachable without me getting overwhelmed. Having a concept map will keep me motivated throughout my next few years here.
About Me
Hello, my name is Nicole Kellner. I am a current honors student at The Ohio State University. My past educational experiences include receiving an International Baccalaureate diploma from South Side High School in 2015 as well as taking a class in the Ins and Outs of Fashion Merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am from Long Island, New York. I am currently majoring in fashion and retail studies and hope to pursue a double major in business as well. As of now I have big dreams following college of returning to New York to work in the fashion industry. I hope to become a successful buyer potentially. My work experience in the field includes an internship with a shoe company called BANGS Shoes in which i worked one on one with the CEO and founder in Manhattan. I found this experience to be highly rewarding and really helped shape who I am professionally. I can’t wait to gain more knowledge in the industry throughout my college experience and I know that OSU will have great internship and career opportunities in the future. I am a highly motivated and goal oriented individual and I believe this will lead me to great professional success, especially in such a competitive field. I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to be in the honors program here and I hope to push myself to my full academic potential throughout the next four years. I also hope to get involved through fashion related clubs and greek life. Mainly, I just want to make the most of my time here at this amazing university in any way possible specifically academically and professionally. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me!
