G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: Although I have not really started to prepare for it, I would love to study abroad at some point, hopefully in the UK.  Additionally, I speak some Spanish, and have actually had to use my knowledge of Spanish to communicate with a taxi driver in Spain in the past.  I also love to travel, and have been out of the country multiple times.

Original Inquiry: As a business major focused on graduating in four years, I do not really plan on doing any official research at Ohio State.  However, I have a passion for pop culture, especially video games and movies, and often enjoy researching related topics.

Academic Enrichment:  I am currently very focused on my grades, as I am trying to become a finance major.  I came to Ohio State as an economics major, and early on decided I wanted to switch to finance.  Unfortunately, switching to finance requires at least a 3.7 GPA so I am working very hard to achieve this.

Leadership Development:  I have always enjoyed being a leader, and learning more about leadership.  For this reason, I joined the Mount Leadership Society when I came to Ohio State.  Additionally, my junior year of high school I participated in a program in Chicago called Economics for Leaders (EFL).  I loved the program so much, especially the leadership aspect of it, that I am applying for a job as a counselor for it this Summer.

Service Engagement: As a member of Mount Leadership, I very often am engaged in direct service projects.  Additionally, when I’m home, I sometimes participate in helping special needs children, most often by teaching them how to play some sports such as bowling and soccer.

Artifact

The item I have decided to use as my artifact is my second monitor that is connected to my computer at home.  Although it does not relate to a specific event in my growth as a scholar, it has had a large effect on my academic career.  When I first got my second monitor, it was mainly for playing video games.  However, I soon realized how valuable it was in doing school work.  It allowed me to write papers while researching, and being able to leave multiple pages up to read at one time.  It also allowed me to be able to listen to music and change songs as I pleased without having close my work and lose any momentum.  Overall, I think having two computer monitors allowed me to be a significantly more productive student, although I was not able to truly see how valuable it was until I moved into college and had to switch back to using one monitor.
