My journey at Ohio State has been very hectic so far. Welcome Week was full of fun events, such as Convocation, Buck-i-Frenzy, and Buckeye Kick-Off. All of these events have allowed me to grasp the Buckeye spirit. I have learned new chants and learned the words to “Carmen Ohio.” In addition, classes have started and the workload has begun to pile up. (Whoever told me high school had less work than college was wrong.)
While all of the events have kept me busy, my excitement for the upcoming school year has only increased. I cannot wait to attend the first football game of the season! I’m also extremely excited about getting involved in clubs and intramural sports. Although I am thrilled for the upcoming school year, one aspect I am worried about is making friends. I have met many people, but a lot of them I do not see again or I have not made a quality connection with them yet.
Even though making friends has made me slightly nervous, hopefully I will be able to find a nice group of friends in Humanities Scholars. I’m excited about Humanities Scholars because it allows me to make the university a little bit smaller and helps me get know new people. I am looking forward to helping serve the community through Humanities Scholars, as well as going to Chicago, attending community events, and learning more about humanities. The Scholars Program along with Welcome Week events have made me satisfied about my decision to be a Buckeye and excited for what is to come in the future.
