Green Engineering the Tesla Car Presentation
The problem researched for the above presentation was the issue of the manufacturing process of Tesla automobiles not being as environmentally conservative as it could potentially be. During our research on this issue, we learned that many components of Tesla automobiles are shipped from overseas, a process which consumes fuel and produces emissions. This is an issue as many of the materials Tesla has shipped can be found within North America, and thus the shipping can be avoided. The consequence of this is that the resources within America have a much higher cost than those found overseas, but at the same time utilizing them would greatly reduce the carbon footprint of Tesla manufacturing. This project was useful for me because it taught me how to find reliable journal articles and information sources and how to effectively analyze the sources. It also allowed me to focus on both the pros and cons of an issue and base my insight on both of those together.
About Me
I grew up in Beachwood Ohio and attended Beachwood High School before Ohio State. I participated in Model United Nations, tutoring and our school’s leadership club during my years there, and I very much found my time during Model UN meaningful as it gave me the confidence to speak in front of groups of people and taught me how to properly and effectively research information. I am currently planning on majoring in mechanical engineering and obtaining an MD in either nuclear or automotive engineering eventually. It is my goal to either design cars that are both enjoyable to drive and economically viable, or to work with nuclear power in the hopes of bettering our world tomorrow.
