Classmates: Haven’t contacted them in long time. Don’t talk to classmates on Zoom but tried emailing them. Regret not groupworks. But in class groupwork,
She can’t really tell what’s happening in class because Zoom doesn’t allow you to see. So hard to compare in-person students and virtual.
Difference with that’s been done in class and Zoom class. logistical reasons.
Ask questions. After Zoom, don’t wanna bother. eg assignment after class or during breaks
Teacher conference
1.
2. She started watching vlogs, write quotes to get motivation, keep her notes fun and organized because a lot of notes (adding colors, using markers, highlighters) are given.
3. Advantage: not having to hear the teacher when she doesn’t feel it, home vibes
Cons: Speed up class, hard to raise hand (problem communicating), talking to friends (don’t talk to classmates), worries about WIFI breaking down.
4. Communicating with teachers was somewhat an issue. She noticed they took time to respond to emails. Almaz also had WIFI issues at home, so she had to right emails to excuse herself. No issues asking questions to teachers, she is actually known for asking questions.
5. Classes: Arts, Music, Gym and Tech taught differently. Assignments with videos. No problems with materials, assignments don’t require special materials. But used the materials during in-person classes before pandemic.
6. Probably wouldn’t be possible, would just be based on personal experience. Wouldn’t be interactive and learn about it on your own. Not talking with anyone. Not the way school is supposed to work. Shows lack of effort.
7. Listen in class! Do your work, ask them. Believe that it’s the same whether online or in person. Focus what they have to do then. Make a schedule if class is too independent.
8. First was hard, so random everything was unexpected (had no experience). Using Zoom was kind of confusing, but got used to it now. Last year, got sick when moved to online and had a lot of work to do, eventually caught up to it. Hard to keep up.
Schedule change? Last year (5th grade), had no school on Wednesdays when they started online classes, just do assignments (NO zoom). Then this year (6th grade), she has class everyday.
9. Workload is pretty similar. Not really in contact.
10. Has a class to help about mental health and drugs, alcohol and things to watch out (Second Step). Don’t really have time to talk about, rely more on family.
11. No prefers to go back to school, but said it definitely made her have a different view about things. Excited to talk about things that happened and that she learned about during the pandemic once classes are in-person.
