About Me

Hi! My name is Amarachi Kanu, but I also go by Ami. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and majoring in Neuroscience on a pre-med track. I also plan to do a minor in Spanish. I am a Health Sciences Scholar, a Morrill Scholar, and an LSAMP scholar, and I am so excited to be in each of these programs. My career goal in the future is to become a physician or do something health-care related. I’m not sure what specialty yet so I can’t wait to learn more about different health-related career paths. I also plan to be involved in the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) and the Black Student Association (BSA). I am passionate about social justice and diversity and inclusion, so I hope to further my passion and make a difference in the OSU community through my involvements and day to day interactions with people. I believe this passion of mine is very relevant in my career and future goals because of the health disparities that affect black and brown communities in the United States. I want to work to make change in that area. Currently, I am part of Ohio State’s Undergraduate Student Government as a committee representative and am really looking forward to the ways I can impact the student body through this role. Outside of school I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing soccer and basketball, and listening to music. I played soccer and basketball in high school and plan to continue playing for fun while on campus.
