Columbus To Do List #1

On October 20th, my HES group went to Catalina’s for brunch at 11:00 am. The thing I enjoyed most was getting to know my group better. We talked about our interests and of course, bounded about the hardships of classes and college life. My peer mentor also has extremely helpful tips and gave us helpful advice. My least favorite thing was waiting in line for our food because there was such a crowd! From this experience, I learned that it is important to go out of your comfort zone and get know now more people because you never know how much you have in common. Even though most of my group lives on my floor, I didn’t make much of an effort to get to know more people beyond my roommates and the people I met during move in. Next time, I would probably choose to do a more hands-on activity just so we could spend more time together and get to know each other better. I would definitely recommend Catalina’s to a friend, the food is amazing and unique. I’ll be back for sure!

Columbus To Do List #2

On October 28th, I went to the Columbus Crew game with two of my roommates, Tatum and Sophie, who are both in HES. I had never been to a crew game before so it was really exciting to be able to go! The atmosphere was amazing, everyone was so spirited and into the game. Both my roommates and I love to watch soccer so we enjoyed the game and had so much fun. From this experience, I learned that it is important to make time to relax with your friends in the midst of all the schoolwork you have to do. Going into the game, I was extremely stressed because I was afraid I was losing time for studying/homework. However, I noticed that I needed the break and that I was able to focus much better after taking one. I would definitely recommend this experience because it a great activity to be able to spend time with friends/family and to get more involved with the community of Columbus.
