My First Semester at OSU.

Overall my first semester was pretty good. Way more tiring than I imagined, and I cultivated a more curious mind.

Most importantly though I met people who have influenced my life in a positive way. My friend Jen is one of those friends where you just click instantly, even though she thought I hated her at first. Most of the friends I have met here have started their introductions with the statement,”I thought you hated me.”

I think college has given me a more rugged look, because to this day one of my closest friends here, Erika, laughs while telling me how she thought I did not like her, when in fact I was so happy to become her friend.

Humanities as a whole have given me access to wonderful people who just keep on giving me great memories and great times.

Kate Dunne

Kate Dunne is originally from Cincinnati Ohio and graduated from Sycamore Highschool this previous academic year. She was raised in a single parent household by her mother, who she adores. When she was twelve her mother remarried and Kate had a step-dad who is also great. She has four half-siblings as well. Her biological father figure was never really a part of her life but that does not mean she did not have any father figures. Her coach and a good family friends dad, who sadly passed her freshman year of high school, are some of the most important to her. Kates best friend growing up, and until her untimely passing, was her cat named Libby. Kate loves Libby very much and Kates capacity for love is something that is very obvious in her passion for life. Kate grew up in a Christian household and she carries the principles of Christianity with her always. Kate’s original number one school was not OSU but in fact NYU. She chose OSU because, after tearing her ACL, she realized that NYU was not her path, so she chose OSU. She loves the atmosphere of the school as well as how big the community is.

My First Week

My First Week at OSU

Overall, my first week at OSU was much better than I thought it would be. I met so many cool people and way more of them than I originally thought I was capable of. That was one of the things I was most nervous about. I was scared I wouldn’t be able to meet new people or that I would seclude myself and be too wary. But I surprised myself and got out of my shell and met so many amazing people and it’s only been a week. Way less stressful than I was expecting and my classes are incredibly manageable.

Even though it has been a week, I am nowhere near close to being adjusted to college life. It is just worlds different than I could have fathomed. Which is a good thing because it is pushing me outside my comfort zone, something that is much needed. College is just one big push outside of my comfort zone, everything from living in dorms to having to manage 100% of my own time.
