Funded Workday Opportunity: Research and Restoration of Kapoho Fishpond, Waiheʻe

May 27 and June 10th, 2023

  • Please join the Hawaiʻi Land Trust at the Waiheʻe Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge for two community workdays dedicated to archaeological research and restoration of Kapoho, a Loko Iʻa Kalo.
  • Stipends of $100 for participation in the workday are available on a limited basis; please email Scott Fisher (scott@hilt.org) to request a stipend.

  • Participants should arrive at 9 am and plan on 3 hours of work that will include moving stone and clearing vegetation, as well as recording archaeological features and analyzing sediments and microbes in the fishpond. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes and bring water; a meal will be provided.
