Quarry Metro Park Project

I along with other engineering students have been tasked to help manage the storm-water runoff from a professional development that will be connected to the brand new Metro Park in Ohio. The director of the Metro Parks has asked us to manage the storm water from the development because they don’t want the quarries or the Scioto river to become polluted and turn away visitors. We are currently in the process of designing a long bioswale that will border the development and the Metro Park. A bioswale is a  is a planted depression that allows rainwater runoff from impervious areas like roofs, driveways, parking lots, etc., to be absorbed. This reduces rain runoff by allowing storm water to filter into the ground. This is able to prevent things such as erosion, water pollution, and flooding especially in urban areas. Our goal at the end of this project is for the Metro Park to implement our design and give us the recognition we can use when applying for jobs.
