Lifelong Learning

When becoming an engineer one should be prepared to continue learning about the engineering past their schooling. This is mainly because as technology advances it will give us new discoveries in the engineering field which will then be learned. In the past, I would typically use my critical and logical thinking skills to solve any professional problem. I would do this because it would give the most realistic and professional outcome to that source. A great example of me applying new knowledge to my academics is when I researched rain gardens from different articles and papers and applied it to a class project in managing storm water runoff from a local suburban development. My career goals are to get a job that I enjoy and make enough money to support myself and my family. Lifelong learning will be essential to advancing in the workplace that I’m in and continue to grow as a professional engineer. I’m interested in being a part of a continuing internship or a co-op in order to gain experience in the field and continue my learning in that way. I would also enjoy being able to work with a group of people on an engineering project that could be presented and add knowledge to the engineering community.
