Cancer:

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. Not all irregular growths of abnormal cells are cancerous. Although risk increases with age, anyone can develop cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, men and women in the U.S. have about a 1 in 3 lifetime risk of developing invasive cancer.

Trouble with Cost of Screening?

For those of you who need a screening test, but do not have insurance or can’t afford the testing, please contact Southeastern Med at 740-439-8156 or the Mount Carmel Colon Health Program at 614-546-3800. You may be eligable for a FREE screening test! Remember, if you are 50 or older, you need to be tested for colon cancer. If someone in your family has had colon cancer or if you have certain medical conditions, you might need to be tested before you are 50. Talk with your doctor about colon cancer screening.

Lifestyle Factors

According to ACS, the links between colorectal cancer and several lifestyle related factors (diet, weight, and exercise) are some of the strongest for any type of cancer.
