Hello World

I love running, working, and spending time with friends. I went to Olentangy Liberty High school and am currently studying engineering at the Ohio State university! I was born in Charlotte North Carolina and lived in Powell, Ohio most of the rest of my life. I love spending time outdoors no matter if it’s hiking, running, or playing sports. I worked at Noodles and Company for over 3 years and became a shift manager my senior year of high school. I loved working and managing a team in order to see success. Further in High school I ran cross country and track which further propelled my love for running. I am in the Green engineering scholars program at the Ohio State university. Along with that, I am a member of the American Association of Civil Engineers and a member of the American Concrete Institute. These clubs are contributing to my ultimate goal of working for the national parks service as a civil engineer. With this job I hope to help with the sustainability of the parks, and preservation of the environment all while still making sure that structures are built safely and beautifully.

G.O.A.L.S.

As a student, It can sometimes feel like you are nothing, in such a large university. However, I see this simply as an opportunity due to the fact that we have so many resources and great facility. With this research, I have made it a goal of mine to use my engineering degree and my position in the green engineering scholars to help create self-sustaining energy sources within natural parks. I find myself as someone who loves outdoors and what they have to offer. I also love the idea of being self-sustainable and intertwining the environment and technology in order to improve both of these aspects of the world.

Building a desk stand

Over fall break, I decided that I wanted to start something new and challenging. I noticed in my dorm that we had very little space for a TV, so I decided to build a device that would allow me to both watch TV and study at my desk. I decided I was going to build a desk stand. This project for me was interesting because it was all personally led, I did everything for it and planned it out. I started by taking measurements for the dimensions of my desk. Then I proceeded to write a procedure of how I was going to build this stand. After this, I went to Home Depot and figured out the type of materials that I wanted to use, and the best wood. I used a triple layer plywood which worked perfectly. I then began constructing my desk and learned a lot along the way. First and foremost it took much longer than anticipated. Unlike most situations I find myself in, I was very inexperienced and had to keep thinking of ways to fix various problems that came up in my project. Next, I found myself needing to solve for a mistake I made. I cut one of the boards slightly too short and had to improvise. I ended up being able to use the slab and just altering where I nailed it in such that the mistake was not visible. After completion, I was extremely proud of both what I made, and how I problem solved and worked to create a piece of my own.
