One of my other great academic achievements was being inducted into National Honor Society in 2016. I feel as though making this achievement really helped me to grow as a person, as well as made me realize my love for volunteering. I am so proud to have been a part of NHS in high school; I hope I continue this honor for the rest of my life.

Leadership Development: I am very proud to be a leader in my community, as well as around the world. I am an Organizer for Platform For Women, an organization that helps women’s voices be louder in political and government spaces. I participated in the Leadership Collaborative hosted by The Ohio State University over the summer, which I believe truly helped me to become a better leader. I feel as though me being a scholar will help me refine my leadership skills because being in ACES is about educating and volunteering, and we will need to help people from around the world become active in their communities.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. Global Awareness: I really hope I will be able to contribute to global awareness as a scholar by traveling the world and perhaps working overseas. I have always wanted to do this, and I feel as though being a scholar will allow me more opportunities to travel the world to do this. I hope to take all of my opportunities that I would get while traveling the world and bring it back into our communities here in the United States.

Career

[“Career” is where you can collect information about your experiences and skills that will apply to your future career.  Like your resume, this is information that will evolve over time and should be continually updated.   For more information, go to: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/e-portfolio. The lesson plan I created for my Psychological Perspectives on Education class is one of my favorite academic achievements. I feel as though I put in a good amount of effort and education into my lesson plan. In it, I detail a lesson that involves a simulation done to a fifth grade social studies class about immigration. You can view my lesson plan here.

About Me

Welcome!

My name is Hannah Jones, and I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University. I am a Social Work major on the Pre-Law track. I graduated from Centerville High School in Centerville, OH, in 2017 with an Honors Diploma and on the Honor Roll for all four years. I am a proud Land Grant Opportunity Scholar, and I am also in the Advocates for Communities and Education Scholars program at Ohio State.

I am very passionate about volunteering and helping my community; this is why coming to Ohio State and being a part of ACES has been so rewarding for me! I have volunteered as part of Centerville City Schools and St. Leonard’s Senior Living Community back in my hometown. In college so far, I have volunteered with Buckeye Social Change and World Kindness Day (which are my favorite volunteer options so far)! I am thrilled to see where Ohio State takes me.
