Reflection Post Critique

After completing the first project there was a lot of feedback. I feel that I did a successful of values in the piece. A few challenges that I had was the use and the control of the black ink. For the stuffed animal and on the soda can I had ink that ran over on the subject and it slightly messed up my value scales.  When starting out the piece planning and mapping for both scale and sense of location really helped. It gave myself a sense of direction and building blocks of the piece. Something that I really wised I put more design and detail was in the environment and the background of the still life. I saw fellow classmates doing this and their pieces really came to life and I felt this was one major aspect that my piece was missing.  I also picked up on the use of ink for the background rather than just using the ink in the objects like I did. I felt using the ink for objects to represent the dark values of the value scale worked but using the ink for the background could have created a more dynamic visual.  For the risks part of the piece of feel like using the ink in the object a big risk and I have the result of the risk if mixing between two objects. On the other hand using the ink for the record created a sense of texture and movement of the record. This risk payed off and gave a sense of rotation that you would see in a player, playing the record.  From the critique I got the creation of an background or an environment that goes along with my theme of time less objects would rally help complete the piece.
