Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness:
    • In order to increase my global awareness, I am currently involved in various cultural organizations such as the Taiwanese American Student Association, the Korean Student Association, and Tzu Ching. Through these organizations, I attend events centered around cultural appreciation such as the Mid-Autumn Festival. I also joined the Moon Fest Committee in TASA, and I helped organize Moon Fest, a cultural performance event. In preparation for build-your-own bubble tea night, I have helped rehearse the event. Next semester, I intend to join the Night Market Committee for TASA as well. I also hope to further improve my global awareness by studying abroad at some point. I tentatively plan to organize this through STEP.
  • Original Inquiry:
    • I am currently involved with research at the optometry school. I assist an optometry professor in her research on how the two eyes work together by helping her test subjects. I plan to continue working at her lab and gaining more research experience.
  •  Academic Enrichment
    • I pursue academic excellence by taking honors-level courses this semester and by planning to take honors-level courses in future semesters as well.
  • Leadership Development:
    • I plan to develop my leadership abilities by hopefully becoming part of the Taiwanese American Student Association executive board. I also hope to earn a uniform in Tzu Ching. Additionally, I am applying to be a resident advisor, another leadership position.
  • Service Engagement:
    • Through Tzu Ching I have been involved in weekly nursing home visits and monthly food-bank volunteering. In the future, I would also like to begin volunteering at a hospital or in some sort of medical capacity.
