Upside Down Wooden Top
Included in Toys & Games box
- Description: Brought to Japan from China over one thousand years ago, koma, or tops, are either spun by hand or with a string. Competitive games using koma, where opponents spun a wooden or metal top with either their hands or a string in an attempt to knock the other player’s top out of a makeshift ring, became popular among boys during the Edo era (1603 – 1868). The game persists today, with more elaborate tops that make noises, or spin at high levels of speed.
