  • Description: Sumo is a form of Japanese wrestling, and originated as a way to entertain the deities of Shinto, Japan’s native religion.  The rules of sumo are to cause the other wrestler to either touch the floor of the ring with any body part other than the soles of their feet, or to exit the ring.  Kamizumo, or “Paper Sumo”, is a game played by children, where two sumo wrestler cutouts are placed on top of a paper or wooden box.  The two player then tap the sides of the box,, causing the figures to move.  The objective is to topple the other player’s figure, or cause it to fall off of the box.
