- Description: Chokin is the art of carving or engraving pictures and designs into a piece of metal. These metals include gold, silver copper, brass, iron, platinum, tin, and aluminum. Chokin art can often be seen on decorative plates, jewelry, ornaments, Buddhist altars, and furniture. The images carved into chokin art often depict native Japanese landscapes, scenery, and cultural themes.
