  • Description: Beginning with the famous “cored marked” earthenware of the Jomon period (12,000 BC), Japan has a rich history of ceramics. As the years progressed, different styles of ceramics arose, with influences from Korea in the form of higher temperature firing techniques, and China in the form of porcelain.  Japan has many styles of regional ceramics as well, and to this day, ceramics hold an important place in Japanese art.
