OBJECTIVE/PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT

I have been a clinical nurse specialist for 15 years, specializing in the critical care population. I have strong teaching skills with experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and simulation training. I am a content expert in evidence-based practice and implementation science. I bring an organized, detailed-oriented and enthusiastic approach to adult learning and am interested in transitioning to the academic environment. I want to provide nursing students with a positive and memorable learning experience and a strong foundation at the beginning of their career.

Research Study Title: “Diet, Endothelial Function and Pediatric Hyperlipidemia Study”

  • Coordinated and supervised all patient activities, including assistance in recruitment of patients (ages 8-21), scheduling visits, and coordinating and supervised all personnel and resources needed during the study.
  • Involved in data collection, including measurement of vital signs, physical measurements, administration of questionnaires, and assuring records of patient data. Performed phone follow-ups of patients.
  • Coordinated delivery and shipment of blood tests to various laboratories.
    Developed and designed a procedure manual, data and safety monitoring plans, and website for the study.
  • Assisted in preparing dietary teaching booklets for nutrition classes.
    Collaborated with the research team in data collection, performed data analysis, assessment of compliance, wrote reports, abstracts, and papers for publication, and perform other duties as assigned.

Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

  • Performed and coordinated immediate post-operative nursing care for cardiac (CABG and valve replacement) patients including: monitored vital signs, EKG, hemodynamics and oxygenation; titrated IV drips involving inotropes, vasodilators, vasopressors, and anti-arrhythmics.
  • Provided ventilatory support and extubation care. Performed cardiac arrest care and support, involving IV push drugs and defibrillation. Provided and monitored pacemaker, chest tube and incisional care.
  • Coordinated and performed teaching needs for post-op cardiac patient care during hospitalization and at home needs.
  • Cross-trained to perform nursing care in MS/ICU, TCU (Transitional Care Unit), and CPU (Cardiac Procedures Unit).
