Badge #19: Feedback

Listed below are ways in which I have attempted to satisfy this competency – “feedback”:

  • If you look upon our feedback form, I have commented on all group work. Now, my response time was poor at times and as a result my recall was often shoddy. Thank you for taking these considerations into account!

I will present some feedback for my projects below (a note: formatting issues are causing this page to display less-than-perfectly):

I thought the lesson flowed well.  It gave me some new perspectives on DI that I normally don’t think about in K12 world!

The PPT, Notes, URL article links, Video, and our discussion groups emailing you our results so we could all see them on the screen was very helpful.

The beginning questions and then somewhat vague beginning discussion were great ways to see what we already knew and had experience with DI.  Then you were able to add additional aspects and information to what we had already brought up.

All of the technology aspects worked well and flowed smoothly from one transition to another.

We were all able to share personal stories of feeling behind.  We worked together in small groups to come up with ways to prevent and work with at risk students.  And we were able to discuss all together our opinions of different types of DI.

We definitely hit on Understanding, and Evaluating with all of our different discussions.

You provided visuals and videos, as well as group interactions and discussions.  You also defined terms that some did not know or understand clearly.

I think it was very thought provoking as I think about starting a new school year and how I assess and evaluate students progress and projects.

Yes, the lesson was organized well. You had made the content your own by creating unique learning goals.

Yes, you used technology in your teaching meaningfully. The PPT kept us on track, compiling our discussion points on Note helped us collaborate effectively, and the video was topic relevant.

I really liked the thought experiment that you had created. It was a good way of finding out how each of us conceived of differentiated instruction as educators. You were able to get everyone to think about how the topic was personally relevant to them. Your final activity involved looking at technology based differentiated instruction critically; this was helpful in generating food for thought!

You  incorporated and managed the technology efficiently throughout your lesson.

Yes, you paid adequate attention to both types of activity. Asking us to share a personal story of feeling like we were falling behind in an educational context was a great way of getting us to reflect on individual experiences. Your group activity (preventive measures and actions taken) took advantage of the fact that all of us have teaching experience; this was really effective pedagogy!

Your lesson touched on understanding, analysis, and evaluation.

You had included both individual and group activities in your lesson. Doing this helped you cater to individual learner preferences to engage in collaborative activities/work alone.

Your analysis of the video showing a technology enhanced classroom being used to differentiate instruction raised some interesting points such as, selective representation of the student population (depiction of engaged and well- behaved students), effectiveness of the demonstrated assessment techniques (creating a comic strip as opposed to writing an essay), and promotion of brands in educational settings (NASA labcoats).

The entire lesson was well planned and organized. You provided us with an outline for the day which I enjoyed and worked through your objectives in a timely manner

All aspects of Technology use flowed very well and were all helpful for our understanding of the content

I liked the thought experiments of solving some problems, each of your activities had practical relevance to them and were great tools for assessing our knowledge

Managed very well, all technology used was meaningful and purposeful

You provided individual thought experiments and brought us back  together as a group

Multiple levels of Bloom’s were used as part of this lesson

Yes this lesson tailored to many different learners

Gave a great intro to differentiation and encouraged us all to incorporate these practices in our own classrooms

Lesson was well organized. There was an outline for the day on the board as well as outlined learning objectives in the presentation.

Technology was well used and appropriate for the subject matter. Video worked seamlessly!

Different experiments and activities allowed us to solve the problem in ways that were meaningful to us.

Technology was well managed. Everything worked as it should have.

Students were allowed to participate individually as well as in meaningful group contexts.

I would say you hit on understanding, reflecting, and evaluating with your different course activities.

Differentiation in the differentiation presentation…it was definitely there! I liked that it was more transparent, allowing us to discuss differentiation as it was taking place.

Yes, encouragement to further thinking and education within a topic was encouraged.
