My film was really tells the story itself. A college student is up late  at night attempting to figure how to solve a complicated math problem. When things get to tough, he decides to throw in the towel and head to sleep. Yet, out of his will to succeed he goes back into the room and an try out the problem again. Although he seems determined to figure out the problem his head is seriously overwhelmed and explodes from overthinking. Ironically, this was me during the process of this project. I admit to procrastination but as I was ready to finally get to work my computer decided to update itself which took a lot longer than expected.  As i was ready to call a quits just like the character in the film I tried my luck again in the early hours of the morning to give it another go. As seen its evident that much was accomplished either due to brain malfunctions  (extreme sleepiness) .

I movie project

Starting about 3 weeks ago me and a couple of people of from my dorm decided to restart the entire Family Guy Series and watch it from start to finish. We started with one episode a day but eventually found ourselves binge watching the comedy because of how funny it was. The show consists of many characters that add to its comedic quality but the main source of laughs comes from the father of the household, Peter Griffin. After restarting the series I began to again witness Peter’s dumb ideas and infamous yet idiotic endeavors. So, I decided to base my project off of some of the many idiotic scenes displayed in the series. Each situation shows Peter’s lack of judgment, and inability to make rational decisions. This fuels the laughter of the audience. We all watch Peter do what we could never see ourselves doing nor be socially acceptable. This is true for me too. Although, I wouldn’t want him to act any other way.

Midterm Self-Portrait

midterm 1 project (3)-2026vs2

I was really in to how open-ended this assignment was. It gave me a lot of free reign over what to do without having to meet constricting guidelines.  I started the project thinking I’ll just throw some pictures together that show what I like. I ran with that idea for a little but as I started to delve into the process I decided to show the two different sides of myself. I arranged the picture systematically. On the left is a picture of Naruto, my favorite anime, along with myself untouched. This is the easily observed side of me. This is what most people will see at first glance. Its not uncommon that people will catch me watching Naruto, or anime of some kind. A lot of people ask me why I watch that “stuff” in the first place, thats where the second of part of the image comes into play. To the right was my attempt to show my intrinsic and analytical side . The picture of myself divided by puzzle pieces show that different characteristics fit together to make up who I am. I used the gear head image to show not only my engineering like mind but also to show how I analyze the show/many shows in a different way. This is true for everyone. We all perceive things a different way, this just happens to be mine. The background of the wrestling room was dimmed and darkened as a statement to show that yes wresting is a big part of my life, but there is more to me than just being a wrestler. I warped both the Naruto and gear head image to the outer circle of the wrestling mat to make it seem like they were looking in on me. Like I said before, I added a gradient puzzle to the right picture of myself. I had to use the marching ants tool on each picture in order to get rid of their backgrounds.

Composition

I took 4 pictures of something I think about, or use in my everyday life. The picture of the one wrestling shoe is blurred on the outer edges to draw attention to main focus of the picture which is only depicted in about a quarter of the frame. Wrestling goes through my mind everyday, I dread the practices that await after every class. The late night picture is of the street next to the Union and leads to my dorm. I chose this picture because after a long day of classes and workouts I use this walk as a time to reflect on my day and plan ahead. The picture of the Ohio State symbol is pretty self explanatory. Im a student of the university now, making it a big part of my day. Through all of this people who walk in their own shoes are able to tell their own story. In these shoes are the answers to my travels and destinations, which could give an avid description of what I do everyday.

OSU Edited Pictures

The pictures I chose are intended to show unity amongst the university.  The picture of the union wasn’t entirely suppose to show connection but I enjoyed how the tree casted a shadow on the closer part of the picture speaking from a depth point of view. I like the underexposed version of this picture better because it exaggerates the shadows and dark points of the pictures. The picture of the oval from the top of Thompson Library was my favorite because It did show unity as well as the large scale of our university.  The warm version of this picture is better because I feel like it gives the picture a bright autumn vibe. The picture of the study commons was edited to focus on the man in the red shirt and to drown out all of the similar study activity around him. It shows uniqueness of the man in the red shirt yet unity of the students. I placed a filter on the Buckeye Stadium and used A slight contrast effect to show the intensity of the field when all of the players and fans are going crazy together. This picture is meat keep the field alive even when it’s not game day.

Practice Blog

Mason’s home website has a lot going on as soon as you enter the main page.  I feel like someone could easily get lost if they were looking for a specific thing. I do like all of the little features and automatic transitions that go on. They could be viewed as distracting in some cases but it does help engage the viewer. If I could edit the site I would take away some of the photos but keep the transitions to the most important links and slides.
