About Me

My name is Jasemine Jackson- Winston and I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from Charles F. Brush High school. I was in the band for 4 years, and I was a member of National Honors Society and Gay-Straight Alliance. I am a freshmen this year, and I am majoring in Biochemistry and Spanish, on the pre-med track. I hope to become a Hematologist/Oncologist, and help find the cure to Sickle Cell and Cancer. I enjoy learning new things and helping people. I am a huge an of animals, and playing and listening to music. Eating and watching movies are my favorite hobbies, as well as sleeping. Some of my strenghts include being responsible, honest, helpful, and punctual.

Year in Review

Over this past year, I have worked really hard to obtain good grades and focus on myself. I learned how to study and how to deal with my test anxiety. I have also learned how to manage my time more efficiently, and how to live with another human being that comes from a different background than me. Overall, I feel as if this year has helped me mature into a more accepting and knowledgable person. This summer, I plan to knock out some chemistry courses, and maybe do some volunteering, so I can be a more competitive candidate for medical school. I also may decide to work this summer, and my time management skills will help me juggle all of my activities at once. This year went really well for me, and I’m really excited for the future, and all of the success it may bring!

G.O.A.L.S.

This past school year, I got involved in Latino Student Association and Black Student Association, which has helped me expand my global awareness. I volunteered with the Puerto Rican Student Association during Taste of OSU, and it was a fantastic experience. It was very refreshing to see people with different cultural backgrounds, it was a lot of diversity that I’m not used to experiencing. I also volunteered with Pro Martial Arts in my hometown, helping little kids perfect their karate forms. I volunteered during spring break, for about 2 hours every day. It was really fun, and it was nice to interact with children from my same city. Hopefully this summer, I can get involved with volunteering in a hospital or another health care facility.
