About Me

My name is Nisha Iyer, and I am pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering. I am from New Albany, Ohio, which is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. I graduated from New Albany High School in 2019, where I was a part of various organizations such as Key Club and National Honors Society. I am a member of the Mount Leadership Society Scholars, a part of Ohio State’s Honors and Scholars Program. The Mount Scholars program will provide me the opportunity to build on my love of doing service and developing my leadership skills.

My goal during my college career is to explore the plethora of options that my major provides me to find the area of specialty that I want to focus on most. I am particularly interested in water systems/management as a chemical engineer. I am very passionate about the environment, helping make the world more efficient and cleaner, and chemical engineering provides me that outlet. I also plan to pursue a Master’s Degree after finishing my undergraduate degree at Ohio State.

At Ohio State, I’m a part of a few organizations; I am involved in SWE, the Society of Women Engineers, and two committees for my Mount Scholars program. SWE is a great way for me to meet other women engineers and gain insight into the engineering field. I am also a part of Summit Committee, which plans Mount Summit, and the Social Change committee. These committees allow me to increase my involvement in Mount and have a significant impact on events that occur for the program. It is also an opportunity to learn about leadership in a behind the scenes way.
