Dr. Jennifer FogtDr. Jennifer Fogt, OD MS FAAO FSLS – Principal Investigator

Jenny Fogt received her Doctor of Optometry (OD) and her MS in Pharmacology from The Ohio State University.  Dr. Fogt enjoys patient care and research, and she finds combining these areas especially gratifying.  She is an Associate Professor of Clinical Optometry at The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she leads the Innovation in Vision and Eye care Research Group (iVERG) and where is an attending clinician in the OSU Contact Lens Clinic.  She is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Optometric Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society.

Dr. Kim PattonDr. Kimberly Patton, OD MS – Investigator

Kim Patton completed her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014. She then continued her education at OSU, where she graduated first in her class to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2018. Upon graduation, Dr. Patton continued her education by completing a two-year Advanced Practice Fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lenses at OSU, where she studied tear film changes after instillation of different over-the-counter artificial tears to earn her Master’s degree in Vision Science in 2020. Dr. Patton now works at Professional Vision Care in Lewis Center, OH.

Dr. Nidhi SatianiDr. Nidhi Satiani, OD MS MPH FAAO – Investigator

Nidhi Satiani received her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Doctor of Optometry, Master of Science in Vision Science, and her Master of Public Health from The Ohio State University. She completed a two-year Advanced Practice Fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lenses where she studied the impact of oral omega-3 fatty acid supplementation on the tear film. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and joined the iVERG team in 2021.

 

Dr. Abigail MennerDr. Abigail Menner, OD FAAO, FSLS – Investigator

Abigail Menner (née Graeff) graduated with her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2015. She then went on to complete the Contact Lens and Ocular Disease Residency at Havener Eye Institute in 2016. After her residency, Dr. Menner joined Vision Professionals, a private practice in Columbus, Ohio.  She recently joined the faculty at The Ohio State University College of Optometry as an Associated Clinical faculty member. There, she is involved with clinical education with an emphasis on contact lenses, primary care, and clinical research. She also is involved with the STAPLE (Soft Toric and Presbyopic Lens Education) Program, where she speaks at Optometry schools educating students about soft contact lenses. She also continues to practice at Vision Professionals seeing specialty contact lens patients. She is a Fellow of The American Academy of Optometry as well as the Scleral Lens Education Society.

 

Dr. Hope Patterson Gardner, OD MS – Investigator

Hope Patterson Gardner received her Doctor of Optometry and Master of Science in Physiological Optics degrees from The Ohio State University. Her master’s degree research related corneal oxygen uptake to rigid contact lens material and thickness. Dr. Gardner then completed an ocular disease residency at The Eye Center of Toledo before returning to central Ohio. Dr. Gardner practices at Sunbury Family Eyecare. She joined the iVERG team in January of 2024.

Dr. Madison Roth, OD – Investigator

Maddie Roth graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with a minor in Biology from The Ohio State University in 2019. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry degree from The OSU College of Optometry in 2023. Upon graduation, Dr. Roth continued her education at OSU by enrolling in a two-year Advanced Practice Fellowship with a specialty in Cornea and Contact Lenses. She is currently earning a Master’s in Vision Science, and she also works at a private practice, Professional Vision Care, in Westerville, OH on the weekends.

 

Emma Grant – Clinical Research Coordinator

Emma received her Bachelor of Science in Biology/Neuroscience and Chemistry from University of Mount Union.  Emma has experience working with FDA clinical trials, contract research and investigator initiated studies.  She is a highly organized coordinator who can manage the iVERG team with one hand and maintain regulatory documentation with the other!  And she does it all with a smile!

Spencer Mandel

 

Spencer Mandel – Clinical Research Coordinator

Spencer received his Bachelors of Arts in psychology from Indiana University. Spencer has experience working in multiple facets of research. Prior to becoming the research coordinator for our lab, he worked as a research assistant in the Cognitive Development Lab under Dr. John Opfer at Ohio State. He is an organized and motivated individual who loves research and discovering new things. In his free time, you’ll find him learning Jiu Jitsu, playing chess, or watching a movie!
