Financial System Update — Dave Kieffer.2 (15 min)

Dave Kieffer, Senior Director of Enterprise Applications, will provide an update of the Financials Project and the university’s work with Workday. This project will affect everyone at the university over the coming years, so Dave will continue to update us at each ITPC meeting.

 

ComDoc Update — Jeff Dible.3 (10 min)

Jeff Dible, Director OSU Print Services, will discuss the new metering service with ComDoc.

 

IT Strategy Update — Joe Roush.155 (15 min)

Joe will introduce the IT Strategic direction website, and new opportunities for providing feedback regarding the IT Strategy.

 

Canvas Transition Updates — Travis Ritter.18 and Liv Gjestvang.1 (15 min)

Liv and Travis from the Office of Distance Education and eLearning will provide us with an update on the transition to Canvas for the new school year, and their plans going forward.

 

Multi-Factor Authentication (DUO) — Todd Piche.1, Rich Nagle.51 (10 min)

The Enterprise Security team will provide an overview and update of this top project.

 

Q&A, agenda ideas — Everyone (10 min)

We will leave ample time to discuss any questions you have and ideas for upcoming meetings.

 

Networking — Everyone (15 min)

We wanted to give everyone a chance to talk rather than rush out as soon as the meeting is over. It is our hope that you will take these 15 minutes to discuss with other anything of interest that happened during this or previous ITPC meetings.

Greg Niemeyer will review the upcoming password reset enhancement. His presentation will provide a brief overview of the new tool and provide the opportunities for the ITPC to ask questions.

3rd Party Vendor Risk Assessments — Gary Clark.1097 (10 min)
Gary Clark will provide an overview and update on third party vendor risk assessments, including when they are needed, the new intake process, and output of the Assessment Work Group (AWG), a sub-committee of the Security Advisory Board (SAB).

Is it time to establish some guiding principles?

The planning group wants to get some feedback on creating some guiding principles. We have drafted the following and would like to hear what you think.

What We Do:

  1. Share information
  2. Facilitate IT collaboration by creating communication channels
  3. Foster a broad technology focus
  4. Create recommendations to, or provide leadership for, the campus?
  5. Answer questions for the larger community?
  6. Demonstrate technologies that can serve as the foundation for larger adoption?
  7. Make a commitment to IT strategy across the University

How We Operate:

  1. Open organization
  2. Independent Council powered by volunteers
  3. Seek representation from everyone

Next Meeting is 7/21/16

The next meeting of ITPC will be held on 7/21/16 In Thompson Library Room 165. We had a small turnout at the planning meeting on 6/29, so if you have any topics you’d like to see at the meeting please feel free to let us know in the comments.
