Contrary to popular belief, the iPhone is only made in China in the sense that all of its parts are assembled there. The parts are sent from all around the world to China where factory workers assemble them together to create the finished product.
One of the main reasons China is relied on to do this task in the production of the iPhone is that it is not as expensive to have the parts made in China as it is to have them made in the United States. The reason it is less expensive is that workers in China are paid far less wages than American workers, due to the fact that there are so many more workers in China than there are in the U.S. This is a huge social impact for the Chinese. They often work long hours in poor working conditions to assemble these parts. To business tycoons, this is a necessary evil, because it allows Apple to make the phones cheaper, which in turn allows them to sell the phone at a reasonable price and still make a large profit.
