Basic Information

Introduction
In the beginning, the language might seem to you a little bit difficult to understand because of different letters, grammar rules. After starting to learn, everything is going to be easier when you realize the main differences since knowing the differences will help you to compare them and understand them easily.
As I mentioned the grammar structure before, the order of subject, verb, and object are different from English.

In English:
I am learning Turkish with my classmates.
Subject + Verb + Object
In Turkish:
Ben arkadaşlarımla beraber Türkçe öğreniyorum.
(I) + (with my friends) + (Turkish) + (am learning)
Subject + Object + Verb
In English, he/she/it are used to emphasize the gender of the subject of the sentence, but there is no gender in Turkish. “O” is used as the subject of the sentence instead of “he/she/it”

  • He is going to come this night.
    O bu akşam gelecek.
  • She wants to the high school.
    O liseye gitmek istiyor.
  • It (the cat) does not like its new cat food.
    O (kedi) yeni mamasını sevmiyor.

In Turkish language, instead of using a new word for suffixes, the suffiexes are added to the root of the word. For example;

  • Car: Araba
    With the Car: Arabayla
  • Monday: Pazartesi
    Before Monday: Pazartesiden önce
  • City: Şehir
    From my city: Şehrimden
  • Computer: Bilgisayar
    My computer: Benim bilgisayarım
