G.O.A.L.S.

G.O.A.L.S. is an important aspect of college that needs to be thoroughly met in order to be a well-rounded college student.

Understanding the world and its perspectives is very important in order to maintain conversations with others who have different viewpoints and to understand the different cultures and diversities of the world. In order to expand my global awareness, I definitely want to go on study abroad programs. I believe these programs will give me the chance to live, experience, and study in a different culture, which will in turn will increase my diversity and ability to think in different viewpoints. I am currently taking 2202H, which is a cultural anthropology class and it’s helping me understand different cultural ideas and behaviors around the world. In the future, I will continue to take more classes and join clubs that help me further broaden my horizon on global awareness.

Inquiry and asking questions is a way of gaining more knowledge and information to enhance our perspectives and experiences. In order to perform original inquiry, I plan on participating in research in the lab with a professor in my particular field of interest. I would be ecstatic to gain a cancer research opportunity, so I can help in any way to find new information. As needed in my prerequisites, I will also take a few advanced classes in the sciences. I am sure these high level courses will give me projects and assignments that will allow me to use my creativity and inquiry to complete them.

It is important to give your best in school and in the classes you take and also prepare for your future ambitions. My major and track directly relate to my future goal of becoming a doctor. A biology major will help me prepare for the courses I need to take in order to be well-equipped in medical school. And of course, the pre-med track is essential to get into medical school. The GE courses in my plan provide me with background knowledge of medicine, as well as some give a creative outlet. For example, I am currently taking LARCH 2300E, which doesn’t relate to my major or track, but it helps me relax from the normal chemistry and biology, and gives me some experience in a different field! In the future, I know I will continue to take classes and join clubs that will further me on my path to my goals.

Finding your voice and being able to lead people in something you are passionate about is an amazing opportunity to work for something you care about. I am in a variety of clubs which I hope to see myself in leadership positions in. For example, I’m a member of the Pre-med club and I am very interested in how people’s speeches and stories can really influence others. I want to see myself in a leadership position in the next few years. This will help me gain the experience of having a huge responsibility and developing essential skills such as communication and decision making. I know in the future, I want to be able to run a hospital or department, so any leadership experience will definitely help me in the long run.

Our community has given us so much, it’s only fair if we give something back in return. Service to the community is needed to develop relationships, strengthen communication, and expand your knowledge about different subjects and areas. I currently volunteer at Riverside Methodist Hospital and at the temple (my place of worship). At both places, I gain communication skills by interacting with various people. I know in the future I will join more clubs and will continue what I’m doing right now to give back to the community.

It’s necessary to know about the world, give back to the community, ask questions, find your voice and of course, study well at college and beyond. I know I will be able to do my part in understanding and experiencing all the aspects of G.O.A.L.S.
