As international exchange students you are required to purchase the Ohio State health insurance plan, which for the 2019 – 20 academic year costs $1,658 per semester (updates to rates will be posted on the “Rates, Dates and Deadlines” page of the Student Health Insurance website). It is not possible for you to waive out of the plan. For details on the plan, see this page of the Student Health Insurance website. The fee for insurance will be added to your statement of account once you have enrolled for courses, and you will make the payment for insurance along with your other student fees. Fees are due one week prior to the start of classes, on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Coverage will begin on August 18, so if you’ll be entering the U.S. prior to that date you may wish to purchase an interim insurance through Ohio State to cover you immediately upon arrival, if you are not already covered by a plan from home.
