About Me

Originally from Howard County, Maryland, Nesochim Iheanyi-Igwe is a second year Eminence Fellow at the Ohio State University. She graduated from River Hill High School, and is now pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science Engineering with a minor in Public Policy.

Nesochim is heavily involved on campus, as a member of the National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE), the Phi Sigma Rho  engineering sorority, the Time For Change Sustainability Initiative, the Society for Women Engineers (SWE), and Black Student Association (BSA).

Within the Columbus community, Nesochim is an avid volunteer, working in local community gardens, food banks, and at mentor events with youth organizations. She coordinates with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as the Director of Philanthropy for Phi Sigma Rho, and manages large groups of volunteers for events such as the Engineering Career Fair.

In the future, Nesochim wants to pursue computational polymer research. She would like to explore the complexity of bio-materials through materials modeling and application. She aspires to have a career in algorithm development, creating sustainable work that will benefit her research, and hopes to leave a positive impact on her community.

Nesochim loves to share her experiences with her community, through workshops, receptions, and even coffee chats! Feel free to reach out to her at iheanyi-igwe.2@osu.edu
