The Shadowing Program pairs student chapter members with city managers from jurisdictions around Ohio. This opportunity offers valuable in the field experience for students that want to find out what working in local government really looks like.

“As someone who was not sure about what area of policy I wanted to focus on, this experience was fantastic. Getting the chance to see the day to day work at the city management level sparked by curiosity and changed by perspective on local government” —Meghan Murray, MPA/MLAS

The experience varies across students and managers, with most days including tours of facilities and spending time with department heads. Others venture out to see various projects that are taking place in the community. Depending on the day, you may get to stay for a city council meeting!
