This is a reminder that the IA Welcome Event for incoming first-years will take place on Sunday at 1:30PM in the Browning Ampitheatre, which is located directly behind the Kuhn Honors House. This is mandatory for all first-years and is a great opportunity to get to know your fellow incoming IA Scholars.
I am proud to announce a collaboration between four separate departments on campus with the IA Scholars program. The Department of History, Department of Political Science, Department of Spanish & Portuguese and International Studies Undergraduate program will be providing the program with plenty of access to faculty, staff, internships, service, and research opportunities. As part of the collaborative, we will also be having IA Departmental Events, including three separate Meet the Faculty events. These will allow students interested in majoring/minoring or taking courses (including research, leadership, and service) to get to know staff and faculty and what each department has to offer.
Meet the Department Events:
Department of History – Tuesday, September 22nd – 6-8PM – Kuhn House
Department of Political Science – Wednesday, October 21st – 6-8PM – Kuhn House
Department of Spanish & Portuguese – Wednesday, November 4th – 6-8PM – Kuhn House
As many of you know by now, the IA Scholars program will be working directly with the Honors & Scholars Center in implementing an e-portfolio. This serve many purposes and will be a great resource for students to collect their experiences in the program, develop a professional identity online, and use as a launching pad for their career beyond the program. We are looking forward to using this moving forward!
The Honors & Scholars Launch and Second-Year Kuhnival Event are great ways for IA Scholars to interact and meet follow Honors & Scholars students who are not in their scholars group. While it is important to build community with your own cohort, it is great to see there are many others on campus doing similar things as you! The Honors & Scholars Launch will take place immediately after the IA Welcome Event and we will go there together as a group. The Second-Year Kuhnival event will take place on Monday, August 24th at 12:00PM at the Kuhn House. Look for more information from the Center moving forward!
The official International Affairs Welcome Event for first-year IA Scholars will take place on Sunday, August 23rd at 1:30PM in the Browning Amphitheature behind the Kuhn Honors & Scholars House. This will be a great time for all the incoming IA Scholars to meet and get to know each other while also introducing them to Beau and the Leadership Council. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Student Move-In Day is less than two weeks away! Students will be moving into Smith-Steeb Residence Hall on Saturday, August 22nd between 8:00AM-3:00PM. Look out for Beau and the Leadership Council to stop by and say hello!
There has not been much activity on the webpage as the IA Scholars program was in India the past few weeks!
With that said, all incoming First-Years need to turn in their housing contracts by tomorrow, Friday, May 29th. There is no exception to this policy.
Good luck on your finals and enjoy the puppies!!!
