IA Departmental Series

I am proud to announce a collaboration between four separate departments on campus with the IA Scholars program. The Department of History, Department of Political Science, Department of Spanish & Portuguese and International Studies Undergraduate program will be providing the program with plenty of access to faculty, staff, internships, service, and research opportunities. As part of the collaborative, we will also be having IA Departmental Events, including three separate Meet the Faculty events. These will allow students interested in majoring/minoring or taking courses (including research, leadership, and service) to get to know staff and faculty and what each department has to offer.

Meet the Department Events:
Department of History – Tuesday, September 22nd – 6-8PM – Kuhn House
Department of Political Science – Wednesday, October 21st – 6-8PM – Kuhn House
Department of Spanish & Portuguese – Wednesday, November 4th – 6-8PM – Kuhn House

E-Portfolio

As many of you know by now, the IA Scholars program will be working directly with the Honors & Scholars Center in implementing an e-portfolio. This serve many purposes and will be a great resource for students to collect their experiences in the program, develop a professional identity online, and use as a launching pad for their career beyond the program. We are looking forward to using this moving forward!

Student Advocacy Center & Multicultural Center at Ohio State

On campus over the next four to five years you will experience both the highs and lows of being a college student. Two great resources to help you go through those and to better understand the students, both in IA and across campus are the Student Advocacy Center (advocacy.osu.edu) and the Multicultural Center (multiculturalcenter.osu.edu).

IA Scholars STEP Pilot Program

The IA Scholars Program is working with STEP (Second-year transformational  on an all-Scholars pilot program that connects second-year on-campus students to faculty specializing in internationally themed topics. With roughly fifty students and three separate cohorts (one faculty per cohort), we have one of the largest pilot groups among all of the Scholars program. Moving forward, we are looking to expand this program and make it an integral part of the second-year experience for IA Scholars!
