Department of Political Science Fall Reception (2 points)
Thursday, September 8, 5:00-7:00pm, Faculty Club Grand Lounge.
The Department of Political Science welcomes faculty and students to attend the annual Fall Reception and celebrate the start of a new academic year. Food and refreshments will be served. Open to all students however, Political Science majors or minors are highly encouraged to attend. Dress is business casual (please ask someone if you don’t know what that means).

Columbus Museum of Art Exhibit- Picasso: The Great War, Experimentation, and Change (1 point)
Sunday, September 11, 3:00pm, Smith Steeb Lobby
Please join other IA Scholars for a visit to the Columbus Museum of Art to view the Picasso exhibit during its last day at the Museum. A group will meet at 3:00pm in the lobby to take the COTA to the museum. Admission into the Museum is free on Sundays but there is a $6 fee for the Picasso exhibit! Informational Session with Special Agents from the US Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security (2 points)
Monday, September 12, 7:00-8:00pm, Mendenhall Lab 100
Two representatives from the Department of State will be on campus and will be speaking to IA! This is an incredible opportunity to speak directly with recruiters from the Department of State.  I highly encourage you all to attend if you are interested in a career at the Department of State or a federal agency in general.

Journal Club: Science, International Affairs, and More (Note point change: 2 points for attendance with an additional point available for active participation)
Tuesday, September 13, 5:00-6:30pm, Smith Steeb Room 114 (Glass Classroom)
Looking for ways to use international affairs in other fields? Look no further! IA will be hosting a monthly journal club; these discussions will incorporate both science and the international affairs components. Each month, you will be sent readings and at the event there will be a short presentation about the topic, followed by a discussion. The first topic of the year will be Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in a Globalized World. RSVP required. Please contact Alex (northrop.18) with questions.

BREXIT and Its Global Implications : A Lunch and Discussion with Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist at the Institute of International and European Affairs (2 points)
Tuesday, September 27, 12:00-1:30pm, The Faculty Club Junior Colleagues Dining Room (1st Floor)
Join us for this very unique opportunity to hear from one of Europe’s leading economists about the impact of Brexit. This event, sponsored by the Mershon Center for International Security Studies, is open to a very small group of students and attendees will have the opportunity to have a direct contact with Dan O’Brien in a small group setting. Space is limited to the first 15 IA Scholars to register and lunch is provided. Please register here ASAP and absolutely no later than Monday, September 19th.
