Introduction: The Life-long Journey of a Hydration Pack

Hydration packs are used everyday by people all over the world, from military personnel to cyclists to marathon runners and many others. They have, without a doubt, changed the way in which we stay hydrated while engaged in physical activity. In fact, CamelBak’s mission statement is “To continuously reinvent and forever change the way people hydrate and perform” (CamelBak).

But have you ever thought about how they are made? Or how they are tested? Or how they are obtained by retailers and consumers? And what happens to hydration packs when they are disposed of?

We have decided to research hydration packs for our commodity chain program, so we can answer these questions for you. Throughout this website we will take you through the life cycle of a hydration pack. We will discuss in detail the extraction of raw materials, manufacturing process, testing procedures, distribution, consumption and the disposal and/or recycling process of hydration packs. We will also discuss certain social and environmental issues pertaining to these activities. Please take a look at our added maps, videos and images to get a better understanding of the commodity.

We hope you enjoy our website, and learn something while you’re at it. Thanks for stopping by!
