Sketchbook Week 12

I wanted to play a little more with perspective but more in my style so I sketched this little window scene. I did it once just in pencil trying to get the perspective right and the second one I did with pen.

Sketchbook Week 11

I saw this trend on tiktok about these drawings called trash drawings. They looked super cool so I thought I would give it a go. It reminded me a little of the line drawings we did the first week of this class.

Sketchbook Week 10

This collage project inspired me to use materials I normally wouldn’t to make art. So, I just drew some flowers on some old envelopes and gave them a new life.

Sketchbook Week 9

The prompt I chose was to draw an animal spontaneously. I chose a koi fish but for one I tried my normal approach and for the second one I tried to do something more fluid.

Project 8- collage

The key memory I chose to turn into a collage project is actually a picture of me and my brother exploring my grandpa’s backyard in California. I wanted to make the leaves feel a lot denser than they are in the picture kind of how I would imagine it felt to me when I was that small

Homework 10

Project 7 is by far my favorite work I have created in this class and gesture is definitely my favorite module so far. I like how non traditional it is and how fluid the pieces look and feel. Normally, I really struggle with things that don’t have very clear instructions so when I made art I make things that are very structured. However, I had a really great time just exploring with my imagination and playing with color and shape. For this project specifically I wanted to go with my original thought of dancers for the gesture aspect and then all the shapes and everything were just random but I am really proud of how it turned out.

Exercise 6- Gesture

This module is definitely my favorite so far. When I create art, I usually stay away from painting/ drawing people and I always go for stuff that has more structure. However, this was really fun to step outside of my comfort zone and I actually think it turned out alright. My immediate thought when it came to movement was dancers so that was the main inspiration for these. I numbered them so it would be easier to reference, but my favorites are 12, 7, and 4. Also, I did in fact spill coffee all over a few of these..oops!

Project 6 Final- Exterior Perspective

This is my final drawing of my neighbors house. I have lived across the street from this house for my whole life. It’s rotated residents a few times since throughout my life so it was kind of interesting to look at the house for a long time and notice all the changes that have been made through the years. I don’t think a linear drawing does this house justice because there’s actually a lot of different materials on the house but when it’s broken into lines it just looks like a whole bunch of rectangles. Overall, I am pretty happy with how this turned out. My favorite part is the brick on the front of the house. I hope my neighbors didn’t think I was crazy for sitting in my car for several hours staring at their house. I included a picture with and without the plants in the front, they have a lot of bushes in the front and I never really noticed how much it makes the house look complete. Also, sorry the photos aren’t the best, it’s been bad weather!
